5 Thought Friday
Happy Friday to all! Here are a few, well exactly 5, thoughts:
1. What I am currently reading, viewing or listening to:
Jim Dethmer, author of “15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership”, which I read in March 2018 and highly recommend.
I was able to listen at 1.5x to 1.75x speed and still follow to conversation meaning. If you have limited time, check out 1:10:00 to 1:20:00 on the discussion around co-dependent (built on obligations) and co-committed (built on freedom and being responsible on your own happiness) relationships.
This is one of the core foundations of the SleepMindHeart philosophy that we are responsible to focus on and improve what we can control: ourselves.
2. What is Trending in Technology, Science or Similar:
If DNA is like software, can we just fix the code? Check out some of this technology that will revolutionize the treatment of illness and disease.
In my belief, it will also be the future of longevity and anti-aging technology. Check out the article HERE!
3. Wellness ideas to Consider:
Follow these 5 simple rules and you can extend your healthspan by 8 to 10 years. When you read the list, it will seem easy to follow but you must first tell yourself you believe (and want) to achieve it:
eating a diet high in plants and low in fats
exercising at a moderate to vigorous level for several hours a week
maintaining a healthy body weight
not smoking
consuming no more than one alcoholic drink a day for women and two for men

4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying or whatever else is on my mind:
170 to 175 Beats Per Minute (BPM) music for the gym or while jogging. Go check out “Run ‘N’ Base” 170 - 175 BPM on Spotify, if you are a subscriber. Here is my favorite track from the playlist to give you an idea of the beat pattern: Colour My Soul from DEGS - Check it out HERE
Why this beat pattern? Taking smaller strides while running can minimize the knee joint impact, thus reducing potential injury. The cadence of 170 to 175 BPM, no matter the speed of your running, will keep your feet churning under your body vs. the longer strides of a slower cadence.
If you are serious about taking up jogging and want to limit potentially injury, then go check out the technique called “Chi Running” or one of my favorite, the “Galloway Method”.
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“Conscious leaders experience what is here now and respond in the moment. They are not trapped in old patterns. They are free to lead and serve others, their organization, the world, and themselves.” from The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership: Jim Dethmer
Whether at work or in your personal life, staying in the present moment and not allowing prior thought patterns to take control of our actions are transformational
Happy Friday!
