5 Thought Friday
Here are 5 Thoughts for the week!
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
Fun Fact: I read Annie Duke’s book “Decide to Play Great Poker” after taking a one-day live poker course in Vegas that she taught. It was an eventful day, she is a wonderful woman and she did teach me how to play great poker (smile)!
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful for a beautiful act of kindness when a friend, with no holiday or occasion in sight, bought me two bags of my favorite coffee (Peete’s). Those small things are what make life so awesome.
Try it with a friend!
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Battle ropes: I caught THIS article and just had to share it. This is one of my favorite go-to high-intensity heart rate workouts.
It’s actually fun and funny to try this when working out. If I said try this for 1 minute and see what you think…it may sound easy - “1 minute”, but actually it’s incredibly exhausting.
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
3 days of intermittent fasting for me this week during the Thanksgiving-week challenge. I did no calories between 5pm and 9am.
My sleep quality was up (using my Biostrap tracker) and it felt good to challenge myself mentally at night not to “snack”.
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“That’s the funny thing about grit. While grit can get you to stick to hard things that are worthwhile, grit can also get you to stick to hard things that are no longer worthwhile. The trick is in figuring out the difference.” Annie Duke, Annie. Quit
Wow, I love this quote and it resonates with me deeply. There are many times I should have “quit” but kept going to my own detriment. A great lesson for life is to figure out when it’s not worthwhile to continue.
Happy Friday!
