5 Thought Friday
Completely incongruent 5 Thoughts for the week (smile):
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
Andrew Huberman: Podcast titled “Master Your Sleep & Be More Alert When Awake”
Sleep is truly the foundation for everything else we do! I have realized the rest of the building crumbles if the foundation is not solid, so get amazing sleep and become your best self.
I watched at 1.5x and if you are short on time, catch these main topics:
Timing your sleep properly (Circadium Rythem)- 12:20
Blue Light Is great at the right time of the day and when it enters the bottom half of the eye - 32:50
Using exercise & food to set your body clock - 38:45
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Tons of gratitude for an invite this past weekend to get a short break from work and life coaching. How about inviting a friend or co-worker out this weekend?
This pic summarizes my Sunday at the pool:
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Self-care is not self-ish! It’s simple: Doing things that make you feel mentally and physically good about yourself increases one’s healthspan and longevity.
Therefore, I decided to experiment with a new morning and evening self-care routine using Fresh and Kiehls brand products. I love that my daughters and I share facial care routines that work best for our common skin type. Here is the pic of recommended items:
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
EatingBirdFood: A new healthy food website discovered through the power of the Sleep Minder community (thanks, John). Check this site out: you will love it!
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“10 Ways to Change Your Brain in 10 Minutes
Take a brisk walk
Eat a small piece of dark chocolate (80% or higher)
Sit up straight
Write with your non-dominant hand
Savor a bowl of blueberries
Learn a new word
Visualize ways to improve your day (this is the one I tried a few times this week. It is awesome to reframe your thought process)
Create ten minutes of white space (i.e. go into a room without phones and TV. No dings, beeps, chimes, chirps, news feeds, broadcasts, or other distractions or demands—just you in a room with your eyes open or closed, enjoying ten minutes of time without any sources of stress. PS: I do this daily and it is amazing!!!)
Use essential oils to sniff your stress away (Lavender being the #1 go-to recommendation)
Write down one thing you’re grateful for. “
