5 Thought Friday
Focus today on making small tweaks, which will lead to big changes in the future!
1. What I am currently reading, viewing or listening to:
“Presence”, Amy Cuddy
Bring your boldest self to your biggest challenges! Occasionally I do not bring my best self to the gym, work or whatever challenge I am taking on. The simple tools in this book can help change that.
Cuddy’s research recommends to improve your posture, listen more, not react immediately to a crisis situation (or perceived crisis)….and the list of small tweaks that lead to big gains goes on!
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Feeling so grateful how Macau has diligently and relentlessly managed (and continues to manage) the Covid-19 situation. There is a lot to be thankful for as you look across the globe.
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Cuddy’s TED Talk is a great way to improve your “Presence”. I listened at 1.5x, so its worth the <15 minute investment!
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying or whatever else is on my mind:
Thai Mangoes are in season. Not only are they delicious, but they also carry a very moderate glycemic load. HERE in an interesting article on the glycemic load of fruits!
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“In each challenging situation, we nudge ourselves: we encourage ourselves to feel a little more courageous, to act a bit more boldly—to step outside the walls of our own fear, anxiety, and powerlessness. To be a bit more present. And incrementally, over time, we end up where we want to be…” Amy Cuddy, Presence (p. 252)
Remember, each time we decide to improve (nudge) ourselves through small improvements, these lead to big changes in the future. It could be a new skill, tweak in diet or even getting back to the gym. These all pay positive dividends in the long run.
Happy Friday!
