5 Thought Friday

Excited to share a few thoughts this Friday!

1.       What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:

  • The Wim Hof Method: Activate Your Full Human Potential; Wim Hof

  • Wim Hof tragically lost his wife and then instead of falling into depression, found a way to improve his energy and resilience through deep breathing techniques. Hoping to get 1 or 2 tips to improve my breathing.

2.       Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):

  • Grateful to have found the energy and focus to complete the Galaxy half marathon this past weekend in under 2 hours. While not a personal best, I was happy to have such a beautiful, relaxing, injury-free run!

3.       Wellness ideas to consider:

  • Galloway Run Walk Run method

  • I thought you had to continuously run to be a strong runner until I learned about the Galloway method. While I didn’t follow this exact method during my run, I did stop 6 or 7 times during the run to eat, drink and stretch.

  • Why? I was there to enjoy the run and by stopping to rest, simply helped me be more in the present moment.

4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:

  • New Simmons bed was delivered this week.  2 nights sleeping on the new bed, but still not sure I’m loving it

  • My sleep has been just “OK”…but not spectacular, which was my expectation.  I purchased a medium-firm mattress and it is a bit “soft” for my liking, which says maybe I should not buy a mattress with a “no return policy” without testing it first.

  • Let’s hope it gets better, because I am all about SLEEP!

5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:

  • “Unfortunately, the pleasure derived from external sources is, by nature, temporary. Once it wears off, the return to our “normal” state seems less bearable by comparison. So we seek it again, maybe in another relationship, another job, or another object. Again and again, we seek pleasure, comfort, or relief in objects and situations that can't possibly fulfill our high hopes and expectations.” Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Joyful Wisdom - Kindle Edition.

Happy Friday!

Mike
