5 Thought Friday

A minor leg injury has me resting all week from the gym and applying lots of ice, infrared light, and electric pulse therapy. Let’s see if there is enough time to heal before the upcoming half marathon I am running this Sunday. One thing I have learned over the years - at the slightest signal of injury - STOP!

1.       What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:

  • Lessons on Success; Napoleon Hill

  • Book in summary: After interviewing dozens of industrialists, diplomats, thought leaders, and people who are at the top of their game, Hill distilled what he learned and converted his study into seventeen core lessons that will set you up for success in every facet of your life!

2.       Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):

  • Grateful to learn a valuable lesson on tradition and taking the long term view during difficult times…from a Japanese Mochi restaurant.

  • I found this article on Ichiwa, now more than 1,000 years old, quite inspiring. Our entire family is fascinated with Japan and have been to Kyoto several times….but not sure how we missed this gem. Something to look forward to when travel returns.

3.       Wellness ideas to consider:

  • Fascinating article, with supporting research, on extending your life span, simply by eating nuts! Walnuts, brazil nuts, and pistachios seem to be the best.

  • There are more information and videos at the end of the article if you are interested more in the impact of nuts on health

4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:

  • Guava; Guava has a very low glycemic load and has significant amounts of nutrition. I love the variety with the pink center (see image below).

  • Check out THIS article I found on the benefits

5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:

  • “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

  • “Before success comes in any man’s life, he’s sure to meet with much temporary defeat and perhaps some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and the most logical thing to do is to quit. That’s exactly what the majority of men do.” Napoleon Hill, Lessons on Success, Kindle Edition.

Happy Friday!

Mike
