5 Thought Friday

Living my life full of experiences and moving away from accumulating “things” has been positively transformational! Check out # 4 for my recent mental wellness “experience” - 15 glass Bordeaux wine tasting class (beautiful and not judging myself for the unhealthy treat)!

1.       What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:

  • Diana Chapman on Tim Ferriss Podcast

  • Consciousness expert providing tools to individuals on how to get unstuck, reduce drama in your life, and take radical responsibility. Author of 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership, which I read back in 2017 so it’s time to re-read!

  • If you have limited time, I watched at 1.5x and you can check out these specific times for some great advice on how to

    • Get out of the Drama Triangle: Min 10:00 to 28:00 about tapping into one’s body feeling and trusting in your “gut”

    • Live a life of “Play” to feel more energized: Min 34:45 to 38:30

    • Is what you believe 100% true and reframing your thoughts: Min 48:00 to 57:00

    • Commitments to conscious leadership on taking responsibility and avoiding drama: Min 1:22:00 to 1:30:00

2.       Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):

  • Grateful to 5 of my life coaching classmates for contributing their valuable time to help me practice and earn my Energy Leadership Index (ELI) - Master Practitioner certification.

  • What is the ELI? The ELI is an 85 question attitudinal assessment tool to help individuals understand how they currently perceive and approach work and life. With the awareness and insights gained through the ELI, individuals have the opportunity to reshape their attitudes and worldview and transform who they are.

  • My Results: I took the assessment and gained massive insights through my life coach on how to be more self-aware of my stress triggers and reshape my thinking. This has already started to provide elevated energy levels for me!

3.       Wellness ideas to consider:

  • I registered last week to run a half marathon on December 5 and started training. Why register for a fitness event? Here is an article espousing 8 benefits with the last one why I decided to write this :

    • Positive peer pressure

    • Exercise with purpose

    • Challenge your fitness

    • Improve self-esteem

    • Step towards a long-term goal

    • Support a cause

    • Meet new friends

    • Motivate others

      • So what can you sign up for?

4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:

  • 5-hour French dinner and wine tasting masterclass from an awesome Australian/New Zealand winemaker; a beautiful "virtual French tour" experience. A few comments:

    • The dinner did not meet the brief on any of my prior healthy eating or sleep tips. However, I do allow myself 1 or 2 days a month to “experience” life and that totally meets my “mental wellness” brief.

    • My knowledge of winemaking, grape varietals, and France’s wine history has increased dramatically. Check the Photos HERE!

5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:

  • “Awareness is an innate quality of mind. It requires no systems or strategic belief; only a willingness to pause and reconnect with that which has always been.” Eve Lewis, Headspace (meditation APP)

  • I take 10 minutes at the start of each day to pause, be mindful, and focus on the present moment. This awareness of the body and mind is a great way to start the day in a positive, energizing way. Try it!

Happy Friday!

Mike
