5 Thought Friday
5 Thoughts for the week including my favorite book of the year, more colorful food, and an article I totally enjoyed reading on 99 bits of unsolicited advice.
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
The Way of Integrity; Finding the Path To Your True Self; Martha Beck
This book totally resonated with me as an individual. I recommend this book if you want to learn more about being your best, true (happier) self.
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful to have been resilient enough to break away from addictive, highly refined foods. It is not easy, but truly an amazing feeling if you can get into this positive mental space around food.
I read an article on the addictive qualities of items such as pizza, chocolate, potato chips, cookies, ice cream, French fries, and cheeseburgers, which inspired this gratitude! Check the article HERE.
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Caught this great article on 99 bits of unsolicited advice. Here are a few examples:
“To be wealthy, accumulate all those things that money can’t buy.”
“If you can’t tell what you desperately need, it’s probably sleep.”
“Compliment people behind their back. It’ll come back to you.”
“Every person you meet knows an amazing lot about something you know virtually nothing about. Your job is to discover what it is, and it won’t be obvious..”
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Eating more colorful Mediterranean dishes with Irene’s chickpea and lentil salad. Also includes tomato, avocado, feta cheese, grilled zucchini, olives, red onions, and roasted pumpkin….with an extra virgin olive oil/dijon mustard dressing!
Beautiful and wonderfully delicious (and filling with all the healthy fats)
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“You’re trying to act in ways that don’t feel right to you at the deepest level. Whenever we do this, our lives begin to go pear-shaped. Emotionally, we feel grumpy, sad, or numb. Physically, our immune systems and muscles weaken; we might get sick, and even if we don’t, our energy flattens. Mentally, we lose focus and clarity. That’s how it feels to be out of integrity.”
The Way of Integrity, Martha Beck, Kindle Edition.
Happy Friday!
