5 Thought Friday

Here are 5 Thoughts for the week with travel on my mind!

1.       What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:

  • The Monocle Book of Italy

  • Loaned by a friend (Thanks Liviano) and I just could not put it down. I have been an avid traveler all my life but have not gone further than 20 miles (35km) in the past 2.5 years, so this was what the doctor ordered.

  • It was such a great mental relaxation, so I bought one for my daughter and another for my brother!

2.       Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):

  • Grateful for being able to connect with my family this past week to schedule my mother’s celebration of life event. Perfect to get this done before Mother’s day this weekend!

3.       Wellness ideas to consider:

  • Andrew Huberman with Dr. Rhonda Patrick; Micronutrients for Health and Longevity

  • This podcast is 2.5 hours, but well worth the listen

  • Min 23:00 From mustard seed powder to morninga to improve micronutrients required by the body

  • Min 36:00 - 1:05:00 Omega 3 from marine sources is important according to Dr. Patrick. 2 to 4 grams daily of EPA Omega 3 is beneficial - sardines, anchovies, and wild Alaskan salmon are great sources. DHA is also important, which can be found in salmon roe.

  • 1:17:40 - Vitamin D3 is vital for health and individuals with darker skin may need further supplementation.

  • 1:42:00 - Magnesium is needed to ensure your DNA is maintained - green leafy veggies are a great source. Recommends 135mg of Magnesium Citrate or Malate

4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:

  • Avocado Toast: Sourdough bread, poached eggs, salt, pepper, and a splash of olive oil. San Pellegrino and coffee on the side!

  • Check out my Saturday breakfast special here!

5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:

  • “When people believe their basic qualities can be developed, failures may still hurt, but failures don’t define them. And if abilities can be expanded—if change and growth are possible—then there are still many paths to success.” Carol Dweck, Mindset

  • Still highly recommend “Mindset” by Carol Dweck. Great tools to think about formulating your (positive) belief system, which CAN be developed.

Happy Friday!

Mike
