5 Thought Friday
3 day fast this week after taking Dr. Peter Attia’s pre-Thanksgiving (US holiday) challenge. See #3 below for more details.
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
Fasting Strategies for Metabolic Health with Dr. Jason Fung on Dr. Jocker’s podcast
My favorite line about fasting from Dr. Fung: “We are not trying to sell you anything. Its free, try it”
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Caught a wonderful article on “Kindness”
The premise of the article: “Kindness is the act of helping others and not expecting anything in return. Being kind is one of the best ways to make others feel happy. People who are kind are usually characterized as being warm, friendly, helpful, and gentle.
Sometimes it’s hard to define kindness, as some people confuse it with empathy. But here’s an added benefit of kindness: it not only helps others— it helps you, too!”
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
3 day, zero-calorie fast for me this week. I ate Sunday night then again on Wednesday night. I found it very easy after a few equal or longer fasts earlier this year.
Ketones hit 4.0 and glucose levels at ~60, leaving me in a high state of GKI (Glucose Ketone Index) Ketosis. I love the shaded region below on my blood readings showing my body is fighting cancer, Alzheimer’s, and chronic inflammation. (Photo from my Keto Mojo Glucose Ketone monitor APP)
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Isometric exercise strap (WorldFit Iso Trainer). Focusing on limiting the strain on my joints as I age through isometrics, in order to:
Improve muscle mass and bone density
Increase overall stability, balance, and strength
Better my aerobic efficiency
….all with the intention/purpose of keeping a healthy body and mind to experience life more avidly in my later years.
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“Nothing is a greater impediment to being on good terms with others than being ill at ease with yourself.” Honore de Balzac, French novelist and playwright.
Happy Friday!
