5 Thought Friday
Here are 5 Thoughts for the week:
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
The Great Lockdown: Lessons Learned during the Pandemic from Organizations Around the World: Shivaji Das
This is a business book and I am not recommending this to the Sleep Minder Community. I shared this book since I wanted to provide a few learnings that resonated with me:
One organization recounted a process they called “3A” to help them make pandemic decisions:
Acceptance of the current situation, Adapt to it by innovation and questioning old paradigms, and Advance by focusing on what can benefit the future
This reminded me of the 10 Core Disciplines of Leadership that I am trying to live by and coach others through:
1. Constant awareness by assessing one’s self
2. Accepting what is based on that point in time in their journey
3. Makes conscious choices based on circumstances
4. Trusts the process once decisions are made
5. Is always being authentic
6. Is fearless by embracing the unknown
7. Confidence in one’s self
8. Having a sense of connection with those around you
9. Being present in the moment (not kicking yourself about the past or worried about the future)
10. 100% energetically engaged in life
Write me at Mike@mikescoaching.com if you would like to have more information about these 10 core disciplines and how you may use these in your future growth….it’s free, so why not!
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful to the doctors and nurses who assisted in my annual physical exam this week; friendly, patient, and professional!
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
DEXA Scan: Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA / DXA) is widely regarded as one of the most proven and reliable technologies for measuring body composition. DEXA technology provides comprehensive, precise measurements of total body fat percentage, along with segmental body fat distribution in regions such as arms, legs, android (waist), and gynoid (hips).
Take the time to gather the data you need to make good health and wellness decisions.
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Hot Pot: Hainan (Chinese) style hot pot with chicken and coconut soup. Added in soft tofu, spinach, taro, bok choy, mushrooms, and a few proteins. Really light, delicious, and healthy.
Planning to eat this style of food more regularly!
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“What most people don’t realize is that food is not just calories: It’s information. It actually contains messages that communicate to every cell in the body.” – Dr. Mark Hyman, Author of Eat Fat, Get Thin
Dr. Hyman has a lot of great materials to digest (no pun intended), which includes his weekly newsletter that links you to cool insights like this free guide to Vitamin D.
Happy Friday!
