5 Thought Friday
Here are 5 Thoughts for the week, mostly on minimalism!
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
The Minimalists Website: Reading more on the benefits of Minimalism. First the definition of Minimalism I am referring to:
“Minimalism is a tool to rid yourself of life’s excess in favor of focusing on what’s important—so you can find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom. Minimalism is a tool that can assist you in finding freedom. Freedom from fear. Freedom from worry. Freedom from overwhelm. Freedom from guilt. Freedom from depression. Freedom from the trappings of the consumer culture we’ve built our lives around. Real freedom.”
Check out their free ebook “16 Rules for Living with Less”
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful for the progress Irene made on packing our home for an upcoming move in late July! Our minimalism theory when it comes to owning fewer “things” is really paying dividends when it’s “move time”!
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Minimalist podcast on Grounding: Josh Millburn/Ryan Nicodemus
This is one of those topics that you say “this is so awesome” or “I simply don't believe this nonsense”! LOL
Check out the podcast or THIS article on grounding benefits including:
Reduced Inflammation
More Energy
Better and deeper sleep
I believe and am committing to doing more “Grounding”!
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Food heated in a microwave oven: I had a comment from one of our SleepMinder Community that microwaves are harmful to food and thus our bodies.
In full transparency, after my research, I believe microwaves are not harmful to food and are beneficial to our food. However, I cannot say it’s 100% true. Here are two conflicting articles.
You decide for yourself!
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“Adding value to someone else’s life is one of the most important things you can do with your life, and it has nothing to do with money.”
“Love people, use things. The opposite doesn’t work.”
“Minimalism is a tool to eliminate life’s excess, focus on the essentials, and find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom.”
While talking about minimalism, a few cool quotes from Joshua Millburn are always helpful.
Happy Friday!
