5 Thought Friday
Here are 5 Thoughts for the week with the last few weeks focusing on how to take regrets and convert them into a powerful future!
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
Just started reading this book. The premise is that everybody has regrets and that they’re a universal and healthy part of being human. And understanding how regret works can help us make smarter decisions, perform better at work and school, and bring greater meaning to our lives.
Thanks, Vikki for the book recommendation!
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful for the energy and rejuvenation I discovered after a month's break in my half-marathon training after a minor leg injury. Back out on the road this Saturday for a planned December 4 run!
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Anticipate regret and act: “Regret is a retrospective emotion. It springs into being when we look backward. But we can also use it prospectively and proactively—to gaze into the future, predict what we will regret, and then reorient our behavior based on our forecast. Sometimes that approach points us in a promising direction. Other times it can lead us astray. But if we understand both the upside and downside of anticipating regret, we can hone our strategy for pursuing the good life.” Daniel Pink.
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Check out the 6 benefits at the link above; high in fiber, vitamin C and Potassium. Fighting cancer and reducing heart attacks seems a bit of a stretch but….
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“Though we would like to live without regrets, and sometimes proudly insist that we have none, this is not really possible, if only because we are mortal.” James Baldwin from Daniel Pink’s - The Power of Regret
We are human and will have regrets but learning from our past to fully move forward is precious!
Happy Friday!
