5 Thought Friday

Another 24 hour fast on Monday and again today, and it is getting easier by the day. You may want to give it a try (with a doctors consent of course)! Here are my 5 thoughts for the week:

1.       What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:

  • Tim Ferriss Podcast on Coping with Trauma

  • Unusual for me to recommend this type of podcast on how to cope with abuse and overcome trauma. I listened because it helped me continue to refine my belief in how we can all re-wire our “plastic” minds and live our best lives!

  • Debbie Millman and Tim talk about how they re-engaged with the world through therapy and fully engaging with their early life traumas.

2.       Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):

  • Grateful to have an opportunity to dine this past weekend at Fung Wei Ju, a 2 Michelin star Sichuan restaurant. I focus on life’s amazing experiences vs. accumulating “things”, and this was a perfect example of a simple but memorable experience.

3.       Wellness ideas to consider:

  • Drink less alcohol

  • Don’t get me wrong, I love a nice glass of Pinot Noir on occasion. However, scientific data explored in this article continues to point towards “drinking less = better health”. My personal experience/data confirms this by tracking my sleep patterns, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and respiratory rate with and without alcohol.

4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:

  • Gravity blanket (7 kg / 15 lbs) to help improve sleep.

  • I bought for our daughter to test if this could help improve her sleep. If it works, I am going to get one for myself. Here is what the gravity blanket purports to provide:
