5 Thought Friday
The fasting group is ready for our final challenge next week. There are 4 fasting options to choose from (1) intermittent fasting for a week for a min of 12 to 22 hours daily; (2) Caloric liquid fast of at least 24 hours with a target of 3 to 5 days; (3) Non-caloric liquid fast of at least 24 hours with a target of 3 to 5 days (3 days is my choice); (4) opt-out and do not fast.
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
Cryptocurrency pros and cons, 2021 resolutions, favorite books, and interesting life tips
I watched at 1.75x and thanks for the tip, Boris
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful to realize that I need to focus on what I can control; myself. In doing so, you see how we need to cherish the times we have with family and friends.
This article called The Tail End on Wait But Why is hilarious and a great reminder of how to spend our precious time
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Fasting: Extensive articles and links to the health benefits from Ben Greenfield
Benefits include improved body composition, increased energy, appetite regulation, a healthier gut, enhanced immunity, a sharper mind, a healthier heart, a longer lifespan, disease prevention, and more self-control and willpower.
There are some potential downsides including variable impacts for women…so read up and educate yourself.
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
WEGE sourdough hard pretzels after a total surprise gift from a friend (thanks Bob). I kinda missed Philadelphia after taking the first crunchy bite!
Yes, this blog is mainly about wellness but we all need mini-breaks in our journey….so enjoy! I may use these to break my next fast (smile)!
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“I think once people enter that seventh and eighth decade, if they haven't done a lot of consistent preparatory work in the decades prior, it's alarming how quickly things go south.” Dr. Peter Attia
One of my go-to gurus, Dr. Attia knows we need to focus on our wellness early in life. If not, our 60s, 70s, and 80s (if we are lucky) get much tougher to manage.
Happy Friday!
Mike
