5 Thought Friday
Solve for Happy; what could be better?! Here are my 5 Thoughts for the week!
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
Solve for Happy: Mo Gawdat
The premise: “Gawdat questions some of the most fundamental aspects of our existence, shares the underlying reasons for suffering, and plots out a step-by-step process for achieving lifelong happiness and enduring contentment. He shows us how to view life through a clear lens, teaching us how to dispel the illusions that cloud our thinking; overcome the brain’s blind spots; and embrace five ultimate truths.”
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful for Gratitude, which Mo Gawdat believes is the absolute answer to lasting happiness. Check out minutes 1:13:45 to 1:19:45, in the podcast in #3 below. Gawdat talks about how we need to look down to feel gratitude and not always look up to those with more. See the link to the podcast in #3 below.
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Podcast with Mo Gawdat; Author of Solve for Happy speaking on Steven Bartlett’s podcast called The Diary of a CEO.
This is a must-listen! It is so powerful in the process to reframe your thoughts to live a life of happiness and joy!!! I listened at 1.5x and thank you Tri for sharing this with me; It is truly life-changing content!
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Yoga Block Foam Wedges: I needed a tool for calf and knee stretches to continue improving overall stability. I am trying the DEAYOU brand based on a few ratings on Amazon, but not sure about the quality, so let’s see when they arrive!
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“…contrary to common belief, we don’t just experience two moods, happiness, and sadness. Depending on the kinds of thoughts we entertain, we may fall into a wider spectrum of states:
Allow your thoughts to be affected by illusions and you’ll be stuck in the state of confusion.
Think negative thoughts and you’ll end up in the state of suffering (unhappiness).
Suspend your thoughts by having fun and you’ll find yourself in the state of escape.
Think positive thoughts and agree with the events of life and you’ll reach the state of happiness.
Rise above the clutter of thought, grasp life for what it truly is, and you’ll perpetually live in a state of joy.
Understanding the difference between those states and the reasons you end up in one or the other will help you build a solid happiness model—one that will lead you to happiness every time you apply it.” Mo Gawdat, Solve for Happy
I am all for the last two bullets to live in a state of joy and happiness by reframing/managing my thoughts and rising above the clutter!!!!
Happy Friday!
