5 Thought Friday
Back to more mainstream 5 thoughts for the week:
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
The Untethered Soul; Michael Singer, which scored a 4.7/5.0 with ~ 20,000 Amazon ratings.
Book description: “Who are you? When you start to explore this question, you find out how elusive it really is. Are you a physical body? A collection of experiences and memories? A partner to relationships? Each time you consider these aspects of yourself, you realize that there is much more to you than any of these can define.”
Thanks for the recommendation, Sanaz!
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful for all of the kindness and condolences from the “Sleep | Mind | Heart” community, friends, co-workers, and family. We are still celebrating my mother’s passing as we continue to reminisce about all the heart-warming stories and experiences over the years!
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Here is a great article recommended by my first mentor who helped shape my journey to who I am today. Thanks, Mike O’!!!
How long can we play? Sports Illustrated article talking about the quest for prolonged athletic mortality or in my “speak”, increased healthspan.
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Thanksgiving Turkey!
Fasted 3 days with zero calories (Sunday to Wednesday) followed by a 1 day fast (Wednesday to Thursday) in anticipation of a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner with my wife and friends! And it totally delivered.
The best part of the fasting: I had company. Thanks to all the “Sleep | Mind | Heart” community that joined me in the fast; From intermittent fasting, to day(s) long fasts - nice job everyone who joined the mini fasting community!
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“Your inner growth is completely dependent upon the realization that the only way to find peace and contentment is to stop thinking about yourself. You’re ready to grow when you finally realize that the “I” who is always talking inside will never be content. It always has a problem with something.” Michael Singer, The Untethered Soul
This is so powerful. The first few chapters of The Untethered Soul are talking about the “voice in your head” that never stops talking. Our ability to see these thoughts for what they are - just thoughts - and move forward is life-changing.
Happy Friday!
Mike
