5 Thought Friday
Is it really June already?! Check out these 5 Thoughts for the week!
1. What I am currently reading, viewing, or listening to:
The Comfort Crisis, Michael Easter
After watching a few podcasts with Michael Easter on embracing discomfort, I just had to read his book.
2. Gratitude Practice (for improved happiness):
Grateful for two amazing recommendations from the 5 Thought Friday community; one diet-related and one mindfulness related:
Cinnamon may reduce your blood sugar; you decide! But I am going to experiment with my KetoMojo glucose monitor
A beautiful, touching story as to why all situations are neither good nor bad…..just part of our life’s journey…who knows?
3. Wellness ideas to consider:
Looking to add healthier plant-based protein into your diet? Follow THESE simple guidelines:
Consume complete proteins such as tofu, quinoa, hemp seeds, and buckwheat.
Try to pair proteins with varying amino acids your body needs: beans with rice, whole grain bread with nut butter, and soups or stews that have both legumes and grains.
If time does not permit or plant-based protein is not readily available, use high-quality essential amino acid supplements. Personally, I use a pea-based protein powder called Sunwarrior.
4. What I’m eating, drinking, buying, or whatever else is on my mind:
Grilled Cauliflower Stew: Cauliflower (duh), carrots, chickpeas, onions, garlic, pine nuts, almond slivers, cumin, paprika, coriander, cardamom, and parsley on a bed of quinoa.
5. Quote(s) I am Pondering:
“Changes what we think about the modern world and how everyday conveniences are eroding our understanding of how it means to be human.” Richard Dormant, Mens Health Editor-in-Chief about Michael Easters book (see #1 above).
Happy Friday!
